I tried it first without putting base moisturizer on and the product was a little too dry on my skin. It had an orangey tint. I have mature fair skin and was advised to use a light to med shade. I tried the product again, after applying my regular moisturizer first and had better results and it seemed to last all day, which is great for work. I most likely will not order the light to med again and will stick to the fair to light shades. For someone with darker skin tones, this would work great. A little bit goes a long way and I do like the pump application
