I first got this lens and put it right on my camera (who needs instructions???) and the first thought was man this lens is really terrible..i tried inside, outside, every setting and could not get a clear image. I then remembered seeing a video where the lens shipped with clear plastic stickers to protect the lens.(why don't they make them red or blue?) and i had a hard time peeling those off, but once I did, I was very satisfied with the quality of the images. SO MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE PROTECTIVE CLEAR PLASTIC COVERING. All in all I am sure it is not as sharp as a canon ef-1.8 or 1.4 but for around $60 to get to learn a 50mm fixed prime lens is well worth it. I am not selling any photos and do this just for fun, so this is a great addition to my gearbag. I would highly recommend this lens for beginner to intermediate shooters. Overall below average build quality. It costs less then the Canon 50mm AF lens and its easy to see why. Images are still sharp overall though. Best advice. Spend the extra $25.00 or so and but a Canon.

For the price it is much more than I expected. Very light and quick focusing. Used it indoors with no flash and produced very bright images. Thanks.

This lens felt cheap when I took it out of the box brand new. Upon installing it on the camera it refused to focus. In automatic or manual. Never took one photo with it due to this. Boxed it up and sent it back. Wasted time.

Not as high quality as a name brand lens, but definitely does its job! If you're just starting out or are on a budget, this is a good snag.

Great image and focus accuracy. The bokeh is very nice, it's very soft. Only meh is the slow focus, but for the price it easily gets 5 stars

Works with Canon SL1. However the auto focus is not performed smoothly, especially for close up pictures.

Slow to focus in AF mode but otherwise image quality is great, good for low light photography too

Yongnuo 50mm lens is a cheaper version of the Canon lens. By cheaper i mean price tag. It is definitely a great bang for buck! Great bokeh and sharpness. The af motor is a little louder and maybe slower but does not effect image quality! This is a great first or beginner lens without the hefty price tag!!!
