The Corvair is one of my favorite vehicles of all time, and the Vanity 8 is one of my favorite Hot Wheels. The Corvair got a raw deal because of Ralph Nader. I guess he just needed something to gripe about, because it came out later in its production run that its handling characteristics weren't any worse than anything else on the road at the time. But it didn't make any difference... Because of Nader, the damage was already done to quite possibly one of the most iconic cars of all time, and GM made the decision to pull the plug on it. Of all the Vairy 8s made, the black and teal color scheme is my favorite, and the Real Riders on white wheels give it a cool drag look, especially with the wide slicks out back, and the skinny dragster style up front.
