I originally had an Intel PUMA-based chip which was causing noticeable delays in loading web pages due to recognized jitter issues. This modem is based on a Broadcom chipset which doesn't suffer those issues, and I notice my web browsing has gotten smoother. For objective data, please look at jitter graphs posted online by various enthusiasts. My ISP needed a DOCSIS 3.1 modem for my 500 mbps connection (I know DOCSIS 3.0 theoretically supports 500 mbps, but it uses up too many of the available frequency channels and many ISPs don't support this in practice unless you have a 3.1 modem). As of March 2019 DOCSIS 3.1 modems are relatively expensive but I got a good deal here, making it a good value proposition. It runs warm and you should take this into account when placing it.

Works almost as advertised. I was disappointed with the operation of the two RJ45 sockets provided at the rear of the unit. I had hoped that one would connect to my WiFi router, and the other directly to my desktop pc, giving both devices the benefit of full-speed as provided by my ISP. Alas, after much horsing around and after a deep-dive into the documentation, that's not how it works. Other than that, it works well.

So this product is very good at everything when it works. And I'm going to stress the WHEN IT WORKS part. The reason is because for some reason there's a huge issue with Arris modems, and the problem is they are designed for high bandwidth in theory, but in reality the engineers didn't compensate for the heat that's associated with such high speed, so the modem heats up and then shuts itself off when it hits around 100c degrees, and so this is not great. Because in an age where everything's getting faster and larger, the only thing you can really do well is basic stuff, hardcore downloading, streaming, gaming, starts to become a real problem. I suggest Arris resolves this, one way would be to put in fans, another way is to attach the new airjet technology onto whatever's heating up in there.Read full review

Very easy Modem to work with, very easy to set up, basically plug and play, you have a instruction card, just so you are aware what is what, but actually getting it set up was super easy. The modem is sleek looks great and not oversized, runs quietly. My speeds were much faster from the get go. The back end software (online) it easy and intuituive to work with should you want to delve deeper into the settings.

It does work great using RCN the modem does get hot so I use a fan to cool it down the fan is on always on it blows air into the modem and it seems to work fine and keep it cool . I did have another modem didnt use fan and it overheated and stop working had to replace it with same so the fan makes it work better.should have builtin fan.

Exactly same as described, arrived on time, and able to setup using my Xfinity provider my own without any difficulty in 10 min. Replaced my DOCSIS 3.0 modem to this one DOCSIS 3.1. My speed boosted from 250mbps to 450mpbs (I have 500MB plan). product was in original box and almost new. Its a good buy. Thanks.

Awesome product, awesome price! I replaced an SB6141, DOCSIS 3.0, which was excellent, still gives excellent service. The SB8200, DOCSIS 3.1, handles more speed, has more channels, but also costs a lot more. The price for this particular new one was brilliant for an even more brilliant piece of technology!

Product works as advertised. Had to get it registered with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) before it would work, but once that was done, it was simple to set it up. Connect up the wires, plug it, give it a couple minutes to initialize and then go. Since it was an upgrade from a DOCSIS 3.0 to 3.1 modem, my Internet bill went down so this will pay for the modem.

I cannot speak to the technology inside but it uses the newest DOCSIS 3.1 standards and supports up to 1 GB speeds IF YOU pay for that service from your cable provider. The modem isn't going to make your speeds faster without upping your service. Set up was easy and I was able to have my cable provider recognize the modem on line which may not be available to everyone. It maybe faster than my old Netgear modem but not appreciable so. I upgraded because my old Netgear modem was getting long in the tooth.

The Arris SB8200 is a great modem that's easy to use and relatively inexpensive. I purchased it to avoid paying rental fees to my ISP, and considering it's high speeds - I can expect it to work well with AC routers for several years to come.
