SDR Play upgrade
This arrived early. Even though there were no instructions, it was pretty straightforward to replace the case. It is good quality and is a better replacement for the original case. It is also better thought out with the USB and SMA connectors on a single panel as well as adding a ground. It fits together very well with only the originals pcb needing some removal of rough edges to get an easy fit The additonal supplied case, adaptor, telescopic antenna and wire antenna are a very nice addition. Before and After
Nicely put together package! The only con was some scuff marks in the paint that were on bottom panel. This wasn't a deal breaker for me, I just put that panel on the bottom with the feet. I will contact the vendor to see if they can ship a new panel. The overall cabinet was not only smaller in height, but also shorter in length compared to the original SDRplay case. With the new case about the same length with the antenna connector as the old case without the connectors. I am sure the shielding is now better with a real aluminum case compared to the conductive paint inside the SDRplay case. I also like how now all the cables come out the back. With the original SDRplay case they may have wanted to minimize computer RFI from the USB port to the antenna? I would not think with the new case this would be an issue even though both now come through the back, they are separate sides. Plus with a good shielded USB cable this shouldn't be an issue anyway. I haven't tried it out in the field yet with a laptop, but it was nice to see not only a whip antenna, but a single wire antenna on a reel from Tecsun model number AN-03L. Both could be used on other radios. The soft carrying case is a nice touch for traveling! Overall I would say this is a nice product, but it took a few weeks to get here from China.

Good value for money. Here's how to make it even better.
This is a good product and will help keep out stray RF but there are a couple of things that you can do to make it much better. The whole case is painted and as such the 4 pieces that it comprises of do not make good electrical contact. I suggest that if you buy one of these to do the following. Firstly remove the paint from both ends of the case using sandpaper so that there is a good electrical contact between all parts of the case. Secondly solder a piece of braid between the top of the USB socket and the nut that holds the earth post in place. This made a terrific difference. Before doing these modifications FM broadcast stations could be clearly heard with no antenna connected. After the modifications there were no detectable signals anywhere in the FM broadcast band so I would call that a good result!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Superb upgrade
Love this RSP1A case, wasn't aware of the item until spotted while searching for other SDR items, totally finishes off the device. Nicely finished, neat bit of kit when assembled and in use. Good quality made product for shielding the RSP
I bought this as it's metal in hopes of getting some shielding for the RSP-1 as they come with a plastic case.
