The Electrolux Discovery upright vacuum cleaners did not come equipped from the factory to use powered accessories such as the Sidekick power nozzle. This kit, consisting of an adapter, power cord, metal-tipped hose handle and a set of six cord straps, will allow you to add that capacity fairly easily if you have decent screwdriver skills. The trapezoid shaped Sidekick adapter provides a switched receptacle for cord to power the Sidekick at the end of the hose. Although designed for the Discovery III, it can also be used on the older Discovery II by making a minor modification to the outside of the machine's built-in power receptacle. Four little angular support fins need to be ground down flat. The Discovery's hose (not included with the kit) will need to be modified by replacing the all-plastic handle off and replacing it with the included metal-tipped handle. Just twist the old one off and twist the new one on. The cord straps are a tight fit and the instructions suggest soaking them in hot water to make them easier to stretch into place. Once everything is installed, just fit the hose into the vacuum, the Sidekick onto the end of the hose, plug the power cord into both. Turn the vacuum cleaner's power switch to the first position (suction only) and turn on the power switches on the adapter and the Sidekick.
