I'm really happy with the Martin C1K. I shopped around for awhile because I wanted a solid koa ukulele, and this was best deal I could find and still be sure that it was a quality product. I'm continually impressed by the sustain this little guy can put out, it sounds gorgeous. Two different friends commented that it's a little bass heavy (for an ukulele), but I'm happy that it has a warmer sound than most other ukes I've played. The tuners it comes with have been great so far. It holds tune perfectly with the stock strings, barely needing adjustment most of the time. In fact, mine was nearly in-tune out of the box. The strings stayed tuned relative to each other after a flight with many stops along the way from the U.S. To South Korea. From my understanding, Martin uses "lower grade" koa to save costs on this model (good quality wood, but usually has less noticeable wood grain). Mine has a very nice pattern that I'm happy with, but each will be different, so ymmv. The grey Martin gig bag that it comes with is nice enough, and even has a little strap inside to secure the neck of the uke. In all, this is a great little instrument that makes really pretty music.Read full review

Flawless build. Wonderful sound. Spot on set up from the factory. A first in my experience! I think this one is a keeper!

I like this ukulele a lot but, when I saw the label and it read Made in Mexico, I felt I paid too much. I thought I was getting a Martin made in Pennsylvania.
