Does not Play, nor Record - just static
Player will not play any tape. The motor turns, the tape spins fine but no sound but static. If you turn volume up you can get ear piercing sounds sometimes and then static. Too, was unable to record. Tried recording a tape and it would not playback any sound. Tried playing the tape in another player, just static from this recorder. Tried playing an existing audio cassette which plays very well in other players and will not play at all in this player. It turns but no sound and no record. On the flip side, it does spin fast and the RR/FF buttons work great. The Cue feature also seems to work. Player looks great! Good enough for a hard to find item
It has static when I turn it on and I have to smack it for the tape to sound clearer. Still, these are hard to find and I needed one with a counter in order to find the place on the tape needed for teaching French lessons on tapes to my young students.Verified purchase: Yes

Cutie is a workhorse. You can play tapes, pause them while playing, fast forward and rewind while playing. Also rewind and fast forward while stopped. It has a speaker that plays the sound of the tape while play button is pressed down - plays rewinding and fast forwarding sound too. It has 4 headphone inputs. The speaker stops making sound when a headphone is plugged into the first plug. You can listen to music on all 4 plugs. There is a dial for volume level too.
