My old Sony CD changer was on its last leg so it was time to get a replacement. I looked to buy another Sony but could not find one and decided on this Onkyo. It was easy to set up and can handle 6 discs whereas the Sony only handled 5. The Onkyo is a little bit bigger than the Sony, but not a biggie. The sound it very clear with an optical cable. I haven't tried playing MP3's yet, but it handles CD's great and is faster than the my old Sony when doing so. If you are thinking about getting a CD changer, I would recommend you don't wait too long to get one. Seems like the audio manufacturers are not making that many any more and may be discontinuing them entirely.

The unit stopped playing on my 3rd CD. I had just unpacked the unit fresh from the box and started playing? I tried all the CDs in the unit's tray and none played. I tried all same CDs from the Onkyo to my other CD player, which played alll normally. I had Onkyo tecnical support trouble shoot my problem, after following instruction from manual. None really solved the unusual issue. My first unusual experience to have such brand new becoming defect permanently just playing on 3rd CD. Onkyo did not honor warranty repair because I bought it outside of its Indpendent Authorized Dealer. I had to shoulder repair. Adam's Electronic confirm I had to pay myself 100%. Lemon quality!

My current CD changer was eighteen years old and getting tired. I was in the market for a new unit when I read several reviews on the DX-390 by Onkyo. They were all very positive. It also holds six discs which I consider a plus and I also learned that it was larger than most units because of this feature. After hooking it up I am more than pleased with its sound, ease of operation and appearance. Despite the larger size it fits in my audio rack with no problem. At the price I paid it truly was the deal of the day.

For the money, a good unit. Metal faceplate, easy to operate, and it's six disc, not 5. The performance is improved by inclusion of an outboard d/a converter (I use a Marantz DAC). Originally ordered a Yamaha piece, but returned (shoddy build, less feature options & cost twice as much) & replaced with this Onkyo. Recommended.

I had a difficult time finding a cd-changer at the local stores in my area and knew I would have to order on line. After much research, I decided on this product. I've had it several months and am very pleased with it. It performs perfectly for me. It is easy to use. Unlike my old changer, it lets me move backwards and forward on a song in play - kind of like a "rewind" on a tape recorder. Kind of a nifty feature if you want to hear just part of a song. It has the standard programmable features you expect, such as a random play as well. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a cd changer for general use. I think it is reasonably priced and it fits my needs perfectly - which means it gets about 20 hours use a week. I would purchase this again.
Very easy to use. When inserting multiple discs, the player automatically plays all of them. My old changer had to be pre-programmed to play all. I can play discs in different formats (WMA, MP3, etc.) and it handles them all flawlessly. It changes discs quickly and is mechanically quiet when doing so. The green fluorescent display is attractive and easy to read. Highly recommended.
