(1) PERRIN Engine Cover Lock Down bracket. Add a bit of flair and accent your plain factory WRX engine cover with the PERRIN Engine Cover Lock Down. Although the primary purpose of this kit is to reattach your engine cover after its mounting hardware fails, it also does a great job at making your engine bay unique and stand out from the crowd.
Fits well. This is great for a custom trim after a new intercooler when a stock appearance is desired. Don't follow Perrin directions for cutouts though they won't promise proper holes after drilling. Mount the bracket, cut all tabs from the underside of the engine cover for mostly smooth surface, clean it well and dry, screw in the two remaining bolts finger tight, put Vaseline on the bolt head, place the engine cover on I trooper end first and hold up with one hand, push front down on bolts and lift up immediately, take cover off and drill in the middle of Vaseline markings. If needed trim the holes small amounts then test figment again. None of these cars are all universal with mounts and there is no chance cutting out a printed paper will work every time. Looks great when finished without worry of factory plastic breaking.
They think of it all. I almost ordered a new cover after one of my mounting points broke. This kit will eliminate that, let you keep the stock cover.
The instructions come with a rad cut out. Just to help you line it up. I suggest keeping it mounted to the tmic to figure out where to drill. Mess it up and those wholes won’t match up.
I thought that it would fit a Forester XT, because they use the same engine, but the cover is different. I did some modifications to this and made it work and now it is solid.
