As a long-time fan of Filmation and the original He-Man & She-Ra animated series, I was very skeptical of this "new" He-Man. In fact, when it first came on TV, I couldn't even bring myself to view it. I did try a couple of times. I decided to try harder and I admit, it isn't bad. What I do like about it are the back stories of the characters. A lot of things that were never explained in the original series and so this does make this 2002 version more interesting. I also like "Teela"- she was always my favorite in the original. I still like the original character better but she gets to do more as far as teamwork goes in this version. I do not like the new "Sorceress." She looks too Egyptian which wouldn't coincide with Eternia. The older version is better and this Sorceress is more stern. I do like the new Evil-Lyn but I like the older Skeletor better. The guy who does the newer voice for Skeletor is close to the original. He-Man is okay but I like the older one better and the older BattleCat. I do like both Cringers. Of the other bad "Masters", the newer Tri-Klops is more interesting. He is Skeletor's scientist like Man-At-Arms is for the good guys. But as far as the others, I like the Filmation ones better. The good "Masters" are all very interesting & more developed from the older version. My favorite so far, is Ram-Man. I DO like the newer King Randor very much as he is more of a man of action than in the older series, but on the down side, his Queen Marlena is more of the "ornament" (so far) and doesn't seem very heroic as in the original series. (She was an astronaut from Earth.) Young Prince Adam gets on my nerves and he talks like teens do "now" which kind of ruins the feel of where this is supposed to be taking place. When he changes to He-Man, it is very dramatic but it's not the same feel as the original series. I also like the backgrounds in the Filmation series better and the colors were brighter. One thing I have also noticed in a hint of Japanamation. Like these backgrounds that show streaks in them to make like the characters are moving fast. The characters are well drawn for this day & age. I'm so sick of seeing dumb drawings on cartoons- it's nice to see people look more LIKE people! If you watch this series and have never seen the older one, you should see both to really appreciate the entire story of "He-Man." And yes, maybe the older one isn't as fast-paced as this or doesn't have all the fancy moves, but it was ahead of it's time- it was all hand drawn and made entirely in the U.S.A.~ "By the Power of Grayskull!"Read full review
Love the 200x series! Was a great reboot and stayed true to the original!

In summation, I loved He-Man as a kid, and I don't feel all the cartoons and comics and little biographies on the back of the toys limited my imagination any more than I allowed it to be limited. Most kids, I suspect, will be the same way. If anything, playing with toys inspired my imagination so much that I'm now an aspiring fiction writer. Of course, there are some parents who might want to avoid encouraging their children to that particularly lucrative career.
Awesome

Discs came in mint condition, been a fan of He-man & The Masters of the Universe ever since it cameout in the early 80's. And now with this new edition and story line, it just brings you back into a whole new perspective on the franchise, cant wait to order the 2nd volume
Great animation and storylines in this DVD! It is almost as good as the original series from the 80's. but what ever lives up to the original? Highly recommened to anyone who loves He-man, and is looking for more stories to lose yourself in!!
I live the dvd but its nothing like the orginial. Im a cartoonist and I think that something should be left alone. I wanted to check out the Dvd because I have always wanted to see what the new He Man was like being it has won a grammy. well thank you once again. theCaptain
This first volume of the series is very nicely packaged and has some great extras. I wish they could have included some documentaries or something on the development of the new series, but maybe they can do that in another volume.
This is a example of a great deal, with great compromise, in both parts, a excellente price in a article collectible, and a big congratrulation.
By the power of Greyskull this is fantastic! I grew up watching the series in the '80s, but this new series is way better!
