it's a hard to find game anymore (although the add-on is a snap to find) the only place I could find it was on e-bay..It's a fun real time strategy game with RPG elements although it suffers from some less than stellar control issues (however at the time of production it was trying to improve the basic controls. in the same vein as Myth2) the graphics are excellent (for the time period) the story line although somewhat predictable is entertaining and the play experience is generally enjoyable.
modern RTS players will find it somewhat dated in comaprison to Rise of Nations/Age of Empires and the like (admittedly I have been out of the loop as far as gaming goes so far this decade.. too busy at work to really hunker down and spend hour upon hour playing..) but if you are like me and an old pen and paper/tabletop gamer.. you'll find it enjoyable.Read full review
Yeah, the load times between battles are a bit longer than you'll be used to. And this game does need a decent rig to play on. But this game is a thing of beauty. Gone is the 'disposable hero' RTS, where armies are wiped clean at the end of every stage, and body counts don't matter; in this one, your army IS A CONSTANT. Every single soldier that dies in battle leaves that squad weaker the next time it fights. Yeah, between battles, you can heal the squad and bring it back up to strength, but this costs money, and there's not always enough money to go around (especially in the later stages/higher difficulties).
The campaigns are a blast! Play as the only real Human army in fifty miles, fighting back war bands of Chaos Marauders and their Demon-kin! Take up the banner of the Orkish Waaaagh, and stomp dem 'Umies flat! Or try on the spike-covered armor of one of the Chosen of the Chaos Gods, and show the Empire why they fear the men of the cold Northern wastes!
This one's got it all; multiplayer is set on a point-buy system, which allows you to customize your army's make-up. Not just the troops, either; take the paint brush, and color your army, right down to the standards! Raise those banners high, boys, there's a war to fight!Read full review
I like the game concept. It was fun playing first one, wanted second one. Needs a good computer though. But the game itself is fun to play and has good campaigns and multiplayer experience that you cant find in other games. You earn what you build
not much of an expansion sadly liked main game tho
I really enjoyed the actual game, but the "expansion" was lame. Adds a token new unit type for various races, and one campaign orc and dark elves. Not a huge fan of playin bad guys so didn't really enjoy the new one at all. I paid $5 for expansion and wasn't really sure it was worth it.
great strategy game . goes hand in hand with the table top " Games Workshop" version. I bought it to try out because im enjoyed painting the tabletop models as a child. There are plenty of strategy games out there but this is a must buy for the Warhammer Fantasy enthusiast.
