Love this thing! Put a battery on and pull th...e trigger. No more yanking on my temperamental gas trimmer. No more running right up until you start to trim and then dying on me. This thing is awesome. The battery last a LONG time and it has two max speed settings plus it is variable speed so you can finesse delicate areas when you are cutting. Also, I have to say, the Dewalt brand .080 line is almost indestructible. oCut around the house, the garage and both ditch lines without dispensing any additional line. WOW!

The title says it all. It made easy work of everyt...hing I threw at it but tall, woody, nearly bush like weeds. The kind you need a saw blade to tackle. I am also very impressed with battery life. I ran it for about 30 minutes straight on a partially charges 3ah battery and had juice to spare. The bump feed works perfectly. It's much lighter than a comparable gas trimmer and the ergonomics are great. It's nicely balanced and easy to use. I dare say, if I ran a lawn care business this trimmer would be on my truck with spare batteries and a 12 volt charger. Oh, it's also very quiet compared to a gas trimmer and no exhaust to boot.

Have not used it much so far... but appears to be adequate for light duty use. I am on the DeWalt 20V platform and I don't care to start using another battery platform so this unit is the best I can do. I believe that 40V or more would be much better platform but it does beat the neck out of gas trimmers even if it is a bit under powered.

These have brushless motors, and if... they fail, there is no repair. With brushed motors you can sometimes get them going again with new brushes, or just by cleaning them up. The cooling vents on the top seem to suck debris in and that can negatively impact the cooling and the life of the motor. Regular maintenance is a must and not running it until it blows. These are set up for the 60V flex batteries which probably run them to the point of melting.
