This is an exceptional reference work and a great addition to any herbalist's library. It covers more than 320 herbs, listed alphabetically by genus. It approaches herbalism from a Western naturopathic perspective rather than from an Easterrn or energetic one, so it may be more useful for a chiropractor, naturopath or Western herbalist than for an acupuncturist or Ayurvedic practitioner. Most of the photographs are clear, with both close-up and detailed images of each plant. There is a repartory in the back of the book which is excellent and not only gives the conditions treated, but the underlying physiology and the rationale used for selecting plants. An unusual focus of the book is on secondary metabolites created by ingesting the plant. The only things that I felt were missing from the book were "energetic temperature" (hot, warm, neutral, cool, cold) descriptions of each plant, recommended plant combinations in the repartory, and contraindications. All in all though, this book is a good choice for anyone interested in plant medicine.Read full review

Very interesting book with lots of cool information. PUrchased it for class. Good quality information and pictures. I have not been able to compare it to other books like it.
It is a great book to learn about herbs and what to use from the herb. It also lets a person know about possible toxicity of the herb.
