The vacuum was really easy to assemble (you have to attach the upper section of the handle and the hose). The bag came pre-installed which made it easy to start using right away (however, I understand not all sellers will pre-install or include a bag). Not only is it very quiet (compared to the other major brand vacuums), and light, but it is also very powerful. With the two speed buttons (high & low) and the power button right on the handle, it makes it easy to switch from carpet to hard floors. The super long power cord is a nice plus too. Overall: A great buy for a product that will last for years to come.

The size is good, the appearance acceptable, access to the replaceable bag is OK and the addition of LED lighting is nice. I also appreciate the low speed option, selected by a switch adjacent to the on/off switch, for vacuuming area rugs. The price, for a refurbished unit with a one year warranty, was excellent. Not so nice, though, is the nearly useless cord length. In a small, two bedroom town home, I need to change plug locations to vacuum the complete area. I've added a ten foot length to the cord to circumvent this. The greatest aggravation is the on/off switch location. It's location, at the front of the handle, guarantees that I switch the unit off several times during my vacuum cycle. Also, bags are readily available but a bit expensive. I bought two Oreck Edge Vacuums to give as gifts. I collect vacuums, so I have a 36 different makes and models at my service. So I decided to open up a box and give the Edge a try. I am totally impressed. This little machine is well built. I have other Oreck vacuums and they employ the single handle fill tube design, which serves the light weight machine well, but does tend to have a flimsy feel about them. The Edge has a aluminum handle that runs the back of the machine and attaches directly to the power nozzle portion. Though it does add weight, it makes the vacuum feel much more durable and stable. The bag is huge, I will caution the replacement HEPA type bags are expensive to replace, approximately $39 for 8, but the upside they are, as I said, Huge; so it takes a great time to fill them. The stiffer brush roll on the Edge grooms the carpet very well. It has a nice bright LED headlight which I greatly appreciate as a person with low vision, a bright headlight is helpful that I don't accidently pick up something that could be damaging, such as a coin. This Oreck is one of the only, if not the only one that I have seen that has a hose. This is operated by placing the vacuum in the upright position and the machine automatically switches to the hose. Suction at the hose is very minimal. The hose end has a permanently affixed crevice tool, which basically is what this feature is good for to do your light edge cleaning, as I said suction is minimal, a Kirby or Electrolux it is no. All in all I am very impressed with the little Oreck, in fact, I have to do another order because the present isn't going to get where it was intended; because I'm keeping this one.Read full review

I don't normally write reviews, but I can't even begin to describe how much I was disappointed with this vacumn. First off it's heavy, which is easy to overlook if the other parts of the machine worked well. They don't or at least they didn't on mine. The head wouldn't stay in contact with the ground so on the back stroke you didn't get any suction. I don't blame Oreck, as they recognized this was a poorly designed model and took it out of production. I bought another Oreck, the elevate series and gave this vacumn away.
