Great way to upgrade an older, but functional computer.

While used, Intel CPUs last for decades and can be easily installed within an older PC for maximizing available cache and clock speed. In this case, the Q9550 has the same amount of cache and is only modestly slower in clock than the top-of-the-line Q9600, but comes in at half the cost.

    Good upgrade for older machines

Works good to get older 2 core machines work a bit faster with this 4 core. At first it would not run on 4 cores and only 2 cores were used at a slower speed than before with the 2 core 3.2GHz (duh!) . (Dell optiplex 380) I got it (after a little search and trial by error), to work by switching OFF Intel speedstep in the Bios / boot-setup. Happy camper now... :D

  • Quicksilver CPU

All though it's a great, fast CPU AM2+/AM3 socket. It's not completely compatible with the AM2+ socket, motherboard states non-compliance at start-up and shut down. Have to restart and press F2 or F12 to boot. After this pc performance is quick, very reliable and responsive. Max Ram 4GB

  • Bittersweet

Worked great, booted right up in my IPIBL-LB(Benicia) motherboard. All cores detected, correct speed detected. No crashes or blue screens with a OC of 3.25GHz. Only downside was that I bought this to replace a Q6600 that I thought was dead, turns out it was my Gigabyte mobo that died. Oof.

  • Excellent processor for budget gaming PC's

It is an excellent processor and powerful enough for gaming and browsing the web. The only problem that I'm having is that in Windows 10 doesn't go to 100% it only stays up to 91% and it stays at a Max clock speed of 2.66ghz instead of 2.83ghz . However in Windows 7 it goes to 100% and 2.83ghz.

  • The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 SLB8V 2.83GHz Quad Core LGA 775 CPU FS is a great option when building older systems - Thank you!

The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 SLB8V 2.83GHz Quad Core LGA 775 CPU FS is a great option when building older systems and making them function with Windows 10! You just need to make sure your motherboard, memory, and CPU will be able to function with Windows 10 if that is the Operating System you intend to use. This CPU works flawlessly to date, and I know it will go to a great home for use by my father, so thank you!

  • Great CPU for older computers

Back in the day the Q9550 was one of the fastest cpu's around. Today a new core I3 can outperform it but only by a little. This CPU can make a HUGE improvement in an older compatible computer that only has a core 2 duo. We were unable to use new Projection software with the old core 2 duo E7500. Dropped this cpu in with NO other changes to the stock HP 3000 computer and now the new Projector software runs like a champ. For less than $30 it's a super cpu.

  • From Dual Core to Quad Core in minutes!

Was a dual core E8400. Now it's a quad core Q9550. Navigating windows and Chrome is so much faster and easier now. Gonna get a 1030 or 1050 for light gaming (for an older lady). Paired with 8 gigs of DDR2 ram, this pc is actually quite capable now!!

  • Nice upgrade at a good price

This was a used processor but works as good as new. Made my machine quite a bit faster and was easy to install. A nice upgrade at a small price. It gave new life to my machine.
