First, there was "Galaxian," and following that came "Galaga: Demons of Death." Known the world over as "Galaga," it is one of the best-known NES games of all time. This port of the original "Galaga" provides all the gameplay that made it popular in the arcades. Sweep your fighter across the bottom of the screen as you defend against wave after wave of oncoming invaders. Each wave starts slowly, with only few enemies, but as the game progresses, the screen fills until it becomes almost impossible to win the level. Like other classic Nintendo games, it is deceptively simple, with just a few controls but hours and hours of gameplay.
I use to love to play this game for hours at the arcade missed it for 35 years because all the places that had arcade game went south .I wanted to buy a full size machine none available this was the closes to that was glad to have it
Galaga is in my opinion the best game of it's type. That is, the Space Invaders type of game. There's a bit of jargon that describes the genre, but I don't know it. If you do, then you probably don't need to be reading a review of this game. In any event, these kind of games are some of my favorites and this one is chief among them. It's an easy concept that's difficult to master, which makes for hours of entertainment. Galaga is the sequel to Galaxian, a game that you should get for your Atari 2600 if you have one. As another reviewer has already said, it's a very good port of the 'real' arcade version. There are weapon upgrades, many different enemies and plenty of them to kill. It's a game you can play for hours on end. This game is in my top 5 video games, regardless of platform or console. Of course, as I said, I'm biased toward this type of game, but it's really that good. You should give it a shot.Read full review
alaga (ギャラガ Gyaraga?) is a fixed shooter arcade game developed and published by Namco in Japan and published by Midway in North America in 1981. It is the sequel to Galaxian, released in 1979. The gameplay of Galaga puts the player in control of a space ship which is situated on the bottom of the screen. At the beginning of each stage, the area is empty, but over time, enemy aliens fly in formation, and once all of the enemies arrive on screen, they will come down at the player's ship in formations of one or more and may either shoot it or collide with it. During the entire stage, the player may fire upon the enemies, and once all enemies are vanquished, the player moves onto the next stage.
This is a fantastic port for the NES.
If you liked to pump quarters into Galaga arcade machines in the early 80s, then this game is for you. The gameplay is almost identical in every way to the arcade game. The arcade game used a monitor that was on its side, so it was taller than it was wide. Home TVs are wider than they are tall. Rather than just put black bars on the sides, or change the size of the playfield so it doesn't match the arcade, your score and other information is put on one side of the screen, and the game is played in its original size and shape on the other. Great idea! Galaga is one of the best shooters of its kind, and will definitely keep you coming back for more. I highly recommend this game.
