I'm an avid runner who clocks more than 35 miles/week, and only use MP3 players for running. I'm disappointed that Sony doesn't make this particular model, or a subsequent similar version of it, anymore. It is ideal for a runner. The only complaints I have with it is that I don't like the "shuffle" feature. If the player is shaken rapidly, then it'll switch to "shuffle play" mode. Sony should've eliminated this feature. And second thing, the program for it isn't that great. Sony should've just designed it for Windows media player, or some more common software platform. Other than that, this is the quintessential sports MP3 player...Too bad Sony isn't the electronics stalwart it once was.
Good sound in fact excellent sound. Easy to use controls even when you are using them "blind", ie, fingers wrapped around it and hand in your pocket. Batteries last a long time. My one dislike, the reason for a "Good" rather than a "Excellent" rating, is the software. I find it somewhat off putting. You can only listen to music that has been transfered to the player using the Sony SW. If you try to transfer music using explorer the player won't even see it. As an extra aside, one that probably won't make any difference to most people who buy this player, I can't access it using my main PC which runs Linux. I had to dig up a "old" XP machine. Non-the-less, I am very happy to have bought this player. It was a good buy.
The Sony Sport Series is a great product for fitness. The armband is comfortable and lightweight. Even when your at your sweatiest, it does not budge. The software and the walkman itself is easy to use even for a person who is not into gadgets. It has a pedometer and a calorie counter, which is the best thing for setting fitness goals. It has playlists for walking and for running, and automatically switches during that mode. Only dislike found? The earphones. Although they wrap around the ear, they come loose when things get sweaty. And they get tangled easily. I'm about to purchase a better pair. I still love the product and am real happy with the purchase.
This the best (actually the only) walkman for sports. Nothing touches it, and I tried harder than most to work w/ the IPOD nano. Here's one for you, try running or biking and using that freaking retarded wheel to pick your songs, change, volume, etc as it is strapped to your arm.. Hope you have good insurance! Apple needs to look up these words: "tactile feedback", and "sports player". For 1 week I tried, wanting to love the IPOD, and just found it absolutely unusable for sports (and just plain stupid). My new Sony rocks in every possible way, and I can browse albums, songs, do everything with my gloved hands all while bombing gnarly trails at 20 mph.. headphones are great - best I ever owned, so not sure what the complaints are there. I can't shake them off my head when wearing them, and can't tell when they're they're on! They also sound friggin great. If I had to nit-pick, the only thing is that the screen is a bit small, but I wouldn't trade this in for a bigger screen since I love the tiny size. The software works, but would prefer non-propriety software, whatever. Get it, if you do sports, this is the ONLY one.Read full review
Easy to use, great sound, lightweight. No skipping of music, has pedometer built in for those keeping track of steps/exercise. The only downside I have found is the ear pieces. Having tiny ears, they are not the most comfortable and don't stay in place, but I figure I can find a pair I like and switch out. Overall....it was my favorite Christmas gift this year.
