Sammy Hagar reels you into this CD with the country-rockin’, foot-stomping, SAM I AM, which, like the whole CD is a subtle balance between country and rock, fervent celebration and heart. Anyone who knows the Red Rocker’s kaleidoscope of hits and milestones gives a nod to the slew of Sam’s myriad skills, rapped out, country style: “Well I try to be your paper boy, try to be your boy scout, Try to be your ice cream man. I could not be your soldier or even drive your bus My skills weren’t always that obvious Yeah but I hope you understand I do it the best I can – I ain’t no perfect man but SAM I AM! I’m a Bad Talkin’ Fighter, a Silver Bullet Rider, I’m a Flip Flop Slider, Guitar Moonlighter, I’m your Prove It All Nighter, your Holy Ghost Writer, Hell a shade whiter - I’m your Rock n’ Roll Driver – oh yeah – that’s all I am“ The song wraps him up like he is, like no other ever has. One surety the Red Rocker rose to the top was by his own song writing skills, be they only fractional in terms of his talent. It was showing up even pre-Montrose days. He’s already onto the next, churning out yet more lyrics as you’re reading this review. HALF WAY TO MEMPHIS and SOME DAY are nothing short of inspirational, tinged with a slow, passionate depth that only Hagar can convey. The CD screams sun, ocean, boats, the coast, and love – just like the cover shows - and even coils around a streak of sea exploration history; by Sammy’s soft reference to Cortez, Magellan, Sir Francis Drake in the background of my second favorite, SAILIN’, he gently leads your imagination into the far away past, where legendary explorers sailed the very waves at which he must have been gazing writing this song. The irony is held fast by a legend himself naming aloud other greats who have come before him. It makes you wonder who Cortez or Drake might have been inspired by, perched above their ships’ bow spirits, lost in time and swirling waters...maybe it was Sammy Hagar. - Lauren Knapp-ResnikRead full review

I bought this because I have been listening to Sammy for 30 plus years. I like his music, the price was good for this CD.
Purchased this CD because I am a diehard Sammy Hagar fan and wanted to hear his latest songs. This CD is great, another era to Sammy. This CD is better than his latest, chickenfoot. He will always rock no matter who is in the band !!! Sammy has an undenying voice that will never quit.
This CD was not typical of what you are looking for in Sammy Style music. He flirts with the country music realm on this effort. Sammy's vocals are very good but it just plain lacks listen ability. Save your money and put it towards his new CHICKENFOOT effort. Sorry Sammy I had to be honest on this one.
I love everything about this album,Hagar has that Jimmy Buffet swagger going on,I have bought about 20 of these I just give them to friends and family to have for their enjoyment. This album was a real gift to all music fans out there!!!!
Sammy Hagar delivers another stellar album!!! He just gets better with age. Great band and awesome songs!!!
