First off, I just really wanted to buy this game for my Genesis as I had it when I was younger and absolutely loved it. To my surprise, I've found that the game still possesses the amazing qualities that made it fun then and keeps it fun now. All in all, Shinobi III can quite possibly be considered one of the most underrated games in the Genesis line-up, as it's fast-paced ninja-style action will keep you glued to your seat for hours on end. With that being said, I especially like the rather elaborate combat system that lets you utilize throwing stars, a katana, your own feet, and even a series of "super powers" dubbed "Ninjutsu," which are exceptionally useful in tight situations. Even the game's length is rather satisfying, with over 25 lengthy and unique environments to traverse through, each of which contains its own set of baddies awaiting your arrival, some of which can be dealt with while riding a horse, hoverboard, and so on. Having played many Shinobi games back on my Genesis as a child, over time growing up, I slowly started recollecting old games that I use to have and always wanted to have, and Shinobi 3 was the last I needed to complete the whole series for Genesis. It is a nice feeling to play it again on the old hardware.

Torn between revenge of shinobi or this one being my favorite. Shinobi legions on saturn also great. III is great for speedrunning. Much more fast pace compared to revenge. Like the variety of levels and music. Difficulty is manageable and one of the easier shinobi games in my opinion but still great fun.
