I was shocked at the price of this canister filtration system.compared others too and they were off the chain with $300..$400 and so on..When I first received this ..I immediately took everything out of the box and was shocked at how very SIMPLE it was to get together..WOW..This by far is the easiest filtration unit I ever put together. They say that you get what you pay for and I think the price I paid I think was like $60 ...and what a DEAL!! This unit pushes out sooo much water sooo fast that I had to adjust the return and exit tubes..I mean and it is still flowing like a rushing raging river..Ha ha a lil humor..but either way these are becoming more popular because hobbyists and enthusiasts want simplicity but we want quality in our water for aquariums and I gotta tell you..I am so mad that I purchased a HYDOR at $200. and this unit works just as well !!!If not BETTER..they can be compared. Now I got the latest one which is the 304..IT is a MONSTER of a machine..easy to put together 5 STARS buddy!!!!Read full review

First of all let me explain why I gave 3 stars. It is not a bad product over all but you get what you pay for. For the price, it's a decent canister filter for a fish tank. I would recommend it ONLY for a fish tank. I purchased it for my turtle tank and my issues with the filter are mostly because of that. The hard plastic intake and output tubes are very loose fitting. This is a problem for me because if my turtle touches them they can fall appart.(my fix was tape) The intake tube also has a minimum water level (about 2-3 inches from the top rim) which I do not see mentioned in the product description. It will not run if the water goes bellow this. And for a turtle tank you need several inches for a dry basking area so you can not have a water level so close to the surface ( my fix was rearranging the order of pieces so the minimum water level piece was closer to the bottom of the tank and then taping the pieces together because they fit too loose) A couple more issues I have are the lack of decent instructions and the fact that most other filters you buy come with some filter media to get you started and this one does not. Also and I am not quite sure how to phrase this but I'll do my best, the top that encases the motor and light is somewhat awkward. It has a plastic divider between the filter baskets and the top motor but it doesn't really fasten or connect. It is a bit difficult to keep together when removing or placing the lid. The locking latches on the lid are also very sharp and scratched me when i was taking the lid off. But like I said in the beginning you get what you pay for and for the price it's a decent product. I have not had it long enough to tell how easy it is to clean or if it will be a long lasting product but if anything should happen with it I will try to update this.Read full review

This is an excellent filter for the money. Here are a few things you should know about it. Because it is an inexpensive import, the build / assembly isn’t always consistent. I would recommend you take it apart, make sure everything is secure, before trying to operate. I have three of these, on worked perfectly out of the box, the second I had to disassemble the pump and put it back together because it wouldn’t turn, the third the nut on the top of the pump primer plunger was loose allowing water to flow into the top of the unit and get into the UV light. Each problem was an assembly problem. So check everything before use. If everything is good, you should have a long lasting filter. If you don’t want to deal with any of this, and you should be able to service the pump yourself when cleaning, then go by one of the expensive once for 4 times the price. You will still need to maintain them.Read full review

I bought this to use on my koi tank. I have a pond with koi that are out growing the pond. So while I plan my perfect pond I have been bringing them inside each winter and put them in a 55 gallon tank. They are out growing the tank fast and 2 filters rated for 75 gal tanks couldn't keep up. The water was gross. I added this filter and 3 days later the water is crystal clear. I love this filter. The only negative is the instructions could be a little clearer. 5 stars in my book. Thank you!!!

Ordered the filter an it arrived way early. Opened the box to find a beast of a filter. Have it up an running on my 100 gallon acrylic tank tank with 6 blood parrot fish, 3 small plecos, 1 bala shark an a koi. Happy with the water flow. It says 500 + gph. Probably more like 480 gph. But much better than my 75 gallon sunsun filter. Definitely recommend this filter
