I am a big fan of multi-disc sets; love the extra features! So when I saw this movie had come out in a 2-disc set, I wanted to buy it but they were all gone when I went back to the store. Finally found it online and bought it at a great price! It seems like the movie was a little shorter than the original movie, but some of the scenes left in are extended and do add to the story. The scene where they are fighting and trashing the house is a little longer; the footage of the make-up sex is a bit longer and a bit more intense. Some scenes were obviously deleted or shortened [like when Vince Vaughn's character receives the reward notices for both of the Smith's]. It seemed like some of the longer scenes gave more background to the characters and what they did as well as how they interacted with each other. Also, the ending gun-battle was shortened and I do not remember if the song from the theatrical release was playing during the director's cut or not. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. It was almost a separate movie from the theatrical release, on the one hand, based on what was cut and what was left in. IMDB.com has an excellent comparison between the two movies in regards to what was cut and what was added. I really enjoyed the original theatrical release. I also enjoyed the unrated collector's edition. Both were good movies, enjoyable in their own right and each can stand on its own without taking away from the other. On a side note, as a Christian, I did enjoy their interactions with the 'Christian neighbors.' That was pretty funny. Also liked the Amy Grant song; she was one of my favorite musicians growing up. In fact, I enjoyed the humor throughout both movies [especially when the Smith's went to their neighbor's for a party of some sort - classic!]. I am not going to knock the amount of violence in the movie; I did not think it was over-the-top in any way. It was advertised as a somewhat violent movie; they are assassins working for two different shadowy agencies we never really find very much about. I knew some people who complained about the violence in the movie; I'm not sure sure what they thought they were going to see about two top-assassins trying to take each other out. I wasn't expecting them to be throwing snowballs at each other or engaging in pillow-fights! I did enjoy the juxtaposition of their bosses. Mr. Smith reported to a woman's voice and Mrs. Smith reported to a man's voice. Mr. Smith tended to work alone with a minimal support group. Mrs. Smith worked with a large group of females to get the job done. Interesting sidebars that one could read alot into if one wished; or, one could sit back and enjoy the movies. The discussions in the beginning and at the end with the marriage counselor were classic! The one-liners delivered throughout had me laughing in my seat! [it reminded me of Pierce Brosnan's discussions in "The Thomas Crowne Affair"] A good buy; I'm glad I finally bought it.Read full review

Apparently when you mess with this couple all you get for your troubles is a black eye, some cracked ribs, a fractured collar bone, AND lUCKILY, AN OVER EXTENDED FUNNY BONE, this movie was fun to watch and very funny as well... it's just too bad the acting needed so much help, the scrip and the premise were nice and neat. It was a nice remake (well, more or less it just stole the name and premise) of an excellent hitchcock film. The poor acting was the only negative
I really enjoyed this movie since Angelina is one of favorite actresses and I am a Brad Pitt fan as well. Of course it doesn't hurt that they are both gorgeously striking to see on the big screen and their chemistry was playfully sexy and lots of fun to watch as you see a hint of a love story buried amist an action packed shoot em up bang bang story. They take living a double life to whole new level but all the while you are enjoying the ride.
