UPDATE: When it's in the UP position I've found that the strainer doesn't sit very far above the pipe drain. That causes somewhat restricted flow when draining the sink. If the stem had just slightly longer wings on the side it would sit higher when raised and turned 1/4 turn and, thus, would allow faster drain flow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I really never expected such a quality, heavyweight stainless steel basket strainer! When I opened the box and held the basket strainer, the weight and the shine blew me away. For just a moment I thought I had been sent an actual Kohler basket strainer for a pittance! Unlike the Kohler, there is a rubber o-ring around the stopper, so it makes a perfect, leak-free seal when you want to keep water in the sink. The old Kohler has a metal-to-metal seal which must be perfectly aligned to prevent leakage - not always easy to do. Even if the o-ring does eventually wear out it's easy to find o-rings of almost any size, so replacing it shouldn't be a problem. It is an absolutely PERFECT FIT. When the stopper is raised and rotated 1/4 turn it stays up and allows drain flow. It looks far nicer than my older sink, unfortunately. I'll have to let it get a bit stained to match! Despite the update info above, I still recommend this quality basket strainer. P.S. I had to delete 2 photos so eBay's computers wouldn't deny the review for violating some thing. So stupid!! Gave it one star because I could not give a zero star rating. We are not recommending this strainer. Did not catch food particles, everything washed right through and down the drain. Did not match the Kohler strainer drain hole pattern which does catch ALL food particles. Did not securely fit the drain opening and seal the sink drain. Did not hold water in the sink.

The holes in the strainer are too big so a lot of stuff gets through it. Normal water pressure seems to makes the stopper fall causing water to build up in sink. I do not reccomend.
