I bought one of these for my custom-built PC specifically to store games; it already has a Samsung 3rd gen 512GB NVMe for a boot drive and 2 3TB HGST HDD's for slave/storage purposes. I wanted my game drive to be the fastest of the bunch. Everything plugged in and formatted fine. I migrated all of my games to the drive and everything boots faster than on a HDD. Samsung is the only brand I use for boot drives (at the very least) and I have always been partial to HGST (although they are no longer manufactured). You can't go wrong with Samsung.

Samsung 2 TB 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD is the best PCIe 4 NVMe available today. So why am I only giving it 3 stars? Well when you hover over the stars, 4 is for "Better than expected" and 3 is for "It's okay." I upgraded from a 970 EVO Plus, and I expected a much quicker boot. I don't see a noticeable difference. However, games are loaded very quickly from the 990 Pro, and file transfers to and from it are actually fun to track. I would definitely recommend the 990 Pro. In fact, I'd get another one myself if the price were a bit more reasonable. And that's its biggest drawback or con. The price of the 990 Pro, at this time, is too steep.
