I have a number of Garmin GPS units that are used in our vehicles and by some of the kids. This latest model is as good as the older ones, but it does have a better screen display and a USB C charging and sync connection which is far superior to the previous ones in older Garmin’s. Garmin’s product support and customer service is excellent and they consistently go out of their way to be helpful. In my world, there are no better GPS units than Garmin, and that includes factory installed units. Factory units are only updated once a year and a fee has to be paid to do that. Garmin generally updates their maps monthly and the newer units do it through WiFi. Garmin’s live traffic through the Garmin Express ap is better in my opinion than the Waze type apps on my phone. And of course the Garmin units are much easier to see. Read full review

I have a new Subaru without an onboard GPS system and I have been using an older Garmin Nuvi 750 for a number of years. I decided to upgrade to this Drivesmart 66. While everything it does, it does fine, it WILL NOT CONNECT TO MY CARS AUDIO SYSTEM. Using bluetooth my car recognizes the unit and adds it to my list of bluetooth devices which I can choose to use. However, the Garmin unit itself then tells me that it is not compatible with my car's system using Bluetooth. Ok, so I purchased Garmin's special power plug with the 3.5mm audio jack and connected it to my car's auxiliary audio input after connect the USB-C cable from the unit to the Garmin power plug. No dice. It will not send the audio signal to my car. Spent 45 minutes chatting to someone at Garmin. She tried her best to convince me that it was supposed to work. Even the owners manual for models 66/76/86 clearly state on page 8 that this is not compatible with all models, she was adamant it should work. Maybe it will recognize YOUR car's bluetooth...maybe. It won't recognize my 2021. Good luck.Read full review

I have a Garmin NUVI in my car but wanted another unit to put in my truck. Reviews said that this is a newer model and loaded with more features. However, I found out that there is so much more to this model and the features are embedded within the unit and hard to find. On the Nuvi, everything was accessible, straight forward, easy to navigate, and easy to use. On this Drive smart, not all of the features are readily accessible and you have to search for them - many times I have had to open the manual to find a feature I was looking for. "KISS"! This review is no reflection on the seller of this unit. In fact, this company is probably the best I have ever dealt with in all my years of buying from E-Bay.

It's a good gps unit over all. However, there are a couple of things that I don't really like about it. 1. The screen will only respond to actual human (tactile) touch. 2. I can't get the aerial view point closer than within a 50ft perspective. I do like that I can bluetooth it to my phone, end make calls through it. I also like that I can update it via my wifi.

Compared to the last great automotive device the Nuvi 3790 from a decade ago, this is a worthy successor, with a price tag that is very reasonable. All my legacy maps, icons, voice, etc are compatible with this device, but it might take some manual file grafting. Layout field boxes are not as customizable, and not as vocally verbose as the nuvi, but the DriveSmart has different visual that are helpful and the return of customizable road exclusion that were last seen way back on the Quest 2 . Though shortest route pathing is gone, calculation is very fast, screen is very pleasant to the eyes, lots of extra useful features such as on route weather mapping, Tripadvisor, and FUEL PRICES which is a feature that would actually save you money. There are only some minor gripes to this device they are; * Much thicker than the Nuvi 3790, it will not hide in your pocket like a slim cell phone. * Dashboard mount no longer utilize the speaker and USB power interface. This means the operation of mounting and dismounting the DriveSmart takes a lot long and cannot be done with one hand. You must to fiddle with USB cable manually, which will require both of your hands, and if you dont have some way to retain your USB cable, chances are it'll just slip and get lost on the floor once you disconnect. I've solved this buy attaching a cable tie around the usb cable around the dashboard mount. * USB-C port, but USB-2 speed only. At least its not USB-1 speed like the Nuvi. Read full review

This GPS does it all. I was a lifelong Magellan owner until they vacated the automobile GPS industry. This Garmin has authentic lifelong free map updates (unlike Magellan’s totally backing out of free map updates) & lifelong traffic monitoring. Also includes voice operation, Bluetooth to my IPhone & Android and wireless updates via your home internet. My only wish Garmin would allow owners of multiple Garmin GPS system to be able to sync stored addresses between devices. That is the only feature I miss from my old Magellan units. It’s tedious and a pain in the butt to manually enter my address’s (over 300) into 3 separate devices.

Easy to use, similar to older Garmins we have used for years but with addtional features like weather, weather radar, traffic, voice control, on map route planning, etc. Now if I can just figure out an easy way to get Google Map Routes to upload through Drive app, not just the destination point.

I purchased this Item to replace a 2597 that quit working after a map up date. Gamin says that 2597 developed a mechanical failure with the charging / data port. Funny how It worked fine until I performed the up date. I am very happy with this DriveSmart 66 EX-6"navigator. I have not been able to get the voice activation to work yet. The screen is very clear, the unit is quick to activate and calculate the route requested. I really liked my 2597 but this is a good upgrade. When my other 2597 dies I will upgrade to a DriveSmart 66 EX-6"navigator

Haven’t used it yet too early for substantive review. Did blue tooth my phone on it and checked out other features. Seems relatively straight forward and not difficult to use. I like the talk to it directions feature.

It is exactly what I was looking for in a gps, plus it has extra features that the regular gps does not have.
