I'm using this to heat my portable hot tub at my cabin. I only use it on weekends so during the week I lower my hot tub temp to 80 degrees. Then when I am there I fire it up and it works great. I mounted it to a plywood board along with a recirculating water pump. I would give it a five except the LED display does not work on my unit. Not a big deal for me because I use the hot tub LED to monitor temp. It would be great for camping or RV.

water heater is very easy to install fires right up as soon as the water starts flowing the only problem we have is we get hot water after a slight delay but after about 5 min of hot water the water goes cold for a few minutes and then it starts getting warmer this pattern keeps cycling thru out the entire time it's in use ..

As for right now, it is truly fulfilling the intended function of being a portable hot water heater. The only thing is that I have not yet been to get the intake and outlet connections to quit leaking water. Hopefully I’ll figure out a simple solution to that. Water is very hot, which is great!

It's an inexpensive generic Chinese water heater. It works well if you know how to hook it up properly. There is no real documentation with it, but lot's of info online if you want to search it out. The weirdest thing about these heaters is the British straight pipe (BSP) threading. You need to buy adapters from BSP to NPT or you will damage the heater trying to make your connections!

Bought the 18L to replace a failing older ($700) unit - something to get by on until older unit is fixed. Install was easy (although Owner's Manual is typical Chinese w/o much detail). I'm sure in warmer weather it will work fine. We live off-grid and use the heater for taking showers. I use compressed air to blow all the water out in freezing temps. I did some tests with it: Back-ground water temp was 47 degs., and water source is gravity fed at 18psi. The hottest the 18L would get the water (unit set on Winter, gas at high and water flow lowest: it put out 118 deg. water @ about 5/6th gpm. I turned the flow up a little and got 100 deg. water @ 2/3rds gpm. For the price it was well worth it... but in really cold climes you might want two of them hooked in series so get more gpm (still way cheaper than the $500-1000 models!). The electronic (battery powered) ignition seem to work fine. Read full review

The "18L Propane Gas LPG Tankless Hot Water Heater 5GPM Instant Boiler w/ Shower Kit" is an excellent portable propane water heater and performs exactly as described. It is the most attractively finished of any of these type units I have seen and superior to the plain white cabinets of competitors. I use this primarily to heat the water of a DIY 700 gal. stock tank pool I made for my grandchildren. It uses an Intex 1500 GPH pool pump/filter and the addition of the heater ensures they will have year round fun. I should mention that the unit comes with bare 1/2" NPT male fittings for propane and water connectors. You will need to source brass fittings in order to couple these US propane fuel lines and water hoses. These are readily available at any serious hardware store. I have attached photos for clarity. I can't speak to long-term performance yet, but this little heater performs far better and easier than expected. It has numerous safety features, including a sensor that only allows the burners to light when water is passing through the system. I will buy again if this one gets tired or I want another for other uses such as camping.Read full review
