For centuries, order was maintained throughout the three Vladamasco islands by rulers Dracuman, Vampra and General Von Hesler. Yet Von Hesler grew weary of sharing his rule and wanted control of all the islands. So one night without warning, he gathered his zombie horde and black magic for an assault on the kingdoms. Camilia, Vampra's daughter, managed to escape during one of the battles and sought out Dracuman's only son: Spike McFang. Not only could she use some help in saving her mother, but Spike needed to be told about his father.
Assume control of the young vampire as he sets out to put an end to Von Hesler's tyranny. Spike McFang wears a purple hat and cape, both of which can be used to fight various enemies populating the worlds. Spike can either throw his hat or spin his cape to cause damage, and as he gains levels, his attacks become more powerful.
While the game emphasizes action like The Legend of Zelda, there are also traditional role-playing elements such as talking to characters, purchasing upgrades with gold and gaining experience points. Camilia and Von Hesler's son, Rudy, will even periodically assist in your quest by tagging along. They are not the only means of help, however. Spike can find or purchase various magic cards that will give him special powers (such as flying or turning enemies into harmless animals). Up to three games can be stored via battery backup.
Twisted Tales is a lesser known action rpg that came out late in the SNES's life. The graphics and music are both good but not on the level of other games in its category like Seiken Densetsu 3 or Terranigma. It can also be a bit easy at times and the story isnt especially great but still well worth it for any collector or SNES rpg fan. 4 out of 5 stars.
The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang (also known as Dorabocchan in Japan) is a fun-filled, warm and light-hearted Action RPG. It's got an easy learning curve and very addicting! Unfortunately, the game only lasts less than five hours on a normal playthrough, and for an RPG that is rather short. What offsets the quantity is the quality though--an amazing cast of characters such as Spike, Rudy, and Camelia as well as a slew of sub characters and villains make this the perfect game to pick when you need something to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
You'll be engrossed in the outstanding soundtrack, which rarely (if ever) repeats the same track in more than one area. The terrific gameplay in which Spike can throw his hat at enemies and also buy improved hats and cards that will all have interesting effects will add to the fun factor as well. The enemies and environments are all vibrantly colored and add to the mystique of the world you're in.
If cute anime-ish graphics are off-putting, then this may not be your game. But other than that and the length of the game, there is really nothing I can think of that this game doesn't do excellent.Read full review
if you like kirby this game will knock your socks off its two player 3d and its one of the best games I have played that is rarely mentioned instead of inhaling like kirby you basically spin around hit enemys on the screen then you have you magic cards that you have limited use of that can set anything that gets on fire you can make your self invisible even hide in your hat and levitate and this has a story line its not level base I would easily compare it earthbound
