Decathlete is from a time when Olympic-style games had traction and were sometimes compelling. It's quick, arcade fun but with surprising levels of replayability. Virtua Athlete 2K for the Dreamcast was arguably the sequel but there's just something about Decathlete that makes it cool, and have an attitude to the characters that, despite there being no storyline whatsoever and having a shallow competition (no tracking of opponent points), it just isn't the same. Decathlete is one of the games that showcases how well the Saturn could render sharp 3D images and textures, which helps make it be a "let me play that again" title in a library of lukewarm/what if/almost there games with one of the biggest - if not biggest of all - "what if" consoles of all time. DecAthlete is worth a play. It's a lot more fun than Winter Heat as well. You won't be disappointed, this is one of the Saturn's best 25-30 games.Read full review
