I have owned and used The Interpreter's Bible ( © 1952 and reprinted variously - mine is a 1992 printing). While I have found the set useful, I have also been curious about what a newer edition might offer. I was fortunate to find this set, The New Interpreter's Bible, © 1994, and I have been most pleased with my purchase. Instead of King James and Revised Standard versions side-by-side, the NIB presents the New International Version and the New Revised Standard texts. The Commentary for each section of the Bible is written in a more accessible form than was the case in the previous edition. I am tempted to present this set to my church for use by our clergy, but I am even more tempted to keep it for my own edification. Perhaps I shall try to find another set and give one of them away. :-)Read full review
