I'm always looking for the timelessness in comedy and was happy that most of the laughs returned as soon as I started watching this first season again after all these years. Murphy Brown's character is great and of course Bergen is deserving of all the Emmys she won but for some reason I always loved the characters of Jim and Miles. The entire cast is fantastic but these two in scenes with the others really make me giggle! What is so nice is that in every episode, no matter which character says it, there seems to be more than just a few laugh out loud pieces of timeless dialogue and that's what I find entertaining. Clever writing is always a joy! I'm hopeful that I can find more seasons of Murphy Brown out on DVD. So far I've only found the first season and it's great.
I love the characters on the show and the history that I lived through. It's very entertaining and informative. I only wish the other seasons had been released on DVD.

The best part of this series is the supporting cast and the on going "gags". Like the parade of Murphy's secretaries, and Eldon's continual painting of Murphy's house. The quirky supporting cast are excellent and keep the show moving and the viewer laughing. Candice is a perfect Murphy. I bought it because I remember watching it when it originally aired, and was not disappointed as i have been with other Tv shows I used to watch and then bought the DVDs. I am looking forward to getting Season 2, if it is ever released. The only negative is that a couple of the shows deal totally with a social issue, trying to stress a point which induces sleep. But most are fabulous. The occasional cursing, which adds nothing, is also a drag. It was a one of a kind series, and a one of a kind cast.
One of the best sitcoms of all times! Rates right up there with Mary, Fraiser, Barney, etc. etc. Sorry to say, they just don't make them like they used to - except for just a small hand-full - like 2 1/2 Men. What the hell is going on with TV lately???? The actors are good but the writing sucks! That's why I'm buying up the Good-Old-Stuff - so 'll have something to watch during prime time. Others I've gotten recently from eBay; Love American Style, Moonlighting, News Radio, & Sonny & Cher. Will keep building my collection from eBay to insure pleasant evening viewing.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the "Murphy Brown" series available in a boxed set and there was no doubt I had to buy it. The character and I had so much in common when it first aired back in the mid-80's, especially when she became pregnant. I too was an older professional, becoming a single mom in 1985, so those episodes came along just when I needed them the most. I related to her completely. There were times when things got rough and her strange combination of zany strength actually helped me. As with all sitcoms, Murphy might not be everyone's favorite, but for me she was a good friend. Here I am 20 years later, reliving this blast from my past and enjoying every minute!
The Murphy Brown TV Show was great. I laughed out loud at some of the things they did. Corky and Silverberg were very funny characters and Eldin who was Murphy's private painter just made me laugh. They went to bar after work and they car pooled it was like a small family. On the last episode of Murphy Brown, Murphy was pregnant and gave birth to Avery. It made national news and headlines as the real Vice President of USA had a problem with the show as Murphy Brown was an unmarried woman having a child. A hot issue and political debate in 1992. Those were the day!
The shipper was perfect, it came faster than expected. I am loving watching this. Since we're not allowed to stream the show due to the music rights, these are the only Murphy Brown's we can see. I've been in heaven watching this, it's an early birthday present to myself.

The package design could use some work; the tab that's supposed to hold the lower-right side DVD doesn't work, so you have to be very careful when closing up the fold-out for those, otherwise it will drop onto the DVD from the other side, and then slip out if you turn it vertically.

Fun series from days past. It's amazing they can make shows that aren't violent or shady. And still be entertaining. Probably for the previous generation. It's all good---(for us).

Hey sometimes even with 500 channels on your cable there is well lets politely call it excrament on TV. So you think back to a show ya really liked that was on a decade ago and ya think ya that would hit the spot right now. Well with Bush Jr leavin the white house wouldn't it be fun to remember the sitcom screw ups of his dads era. So for a few dollars i bought myself a few relived laughs and a great couple of hours of remeberence with a fun cast and a great script.
