About this kit: The plastic is thick and is black. This is great for lighting the kit, you will have less light leaks this way. The fit of the parts is basically good for the most part, but there are a few places where the fit has issues. There is some flash to deal with, but not that much and it removes easily. If you are not going to do the lighting kit and just a straight out of the box build, it will go together fast. The real con to this kit, and the lighting kit for it, is that the building instructions are rather unclear. The only painting and decal placement guide is on the box art. If you take your time, do a lot of dry fitting, and pay close attention you shouldn't have too much trouble putting it together. Once it is finished it looks pretty decent.

First of all I love the size of this model. It's BIG, over two feet long. The Klingon Battlecruiser has long been one of my favorite starship designs. The Polar Lights model has great detailing all over. If I knocked anything it would be the assembly instructions, which are not done all that well leaving you guessing which way a part fits from time to time. I've worked a lot with Bandai models, and their assembly instructions are all written in Japanese. However, the diagrams are rendered so well that it doesn't matter. Lastly, get the lighting kit to finish it off. Totally worth it. Take your time with this, and you will end up with a fantastic piece to display.
