These are reasonably priced brand new ho cars based on decades old designs. They can be tuned and improved upon, and modified if you so desire. They take some fine tuning to run with the older Lifelike/Rokar "Fast Trackers" and the best Aurora AFX/TOMY/TYCO cars, and generally will not beat them heads up, but they aren't that hard to coax some good speed and running action from. Again these are brand new, not 10/20/30/40 year old stock (or used/beatup/bashed in need of replacement parts), and replacement/tune-up parts are readily available and reasonable. They do need some break-in running, and minor tweaking, but so far I've no complaints. Now, if they cost much more than $13/14 (w/o body) I might nit pick, but all in all they work. I base this on current activity with a large multi-level race track/town track and HO trains If you want the best, you will have to pony up and pay a lot more, but these will do the job.Read full review

I am 56 years of age and have been racing HO Scale slot cars my entire life and have owned practically every car on the market since the 60`s,The Auto World Super lll is absolutely the worst car ever marketed and that I have owned, the car itself looks good in appearance, looks sturdy, looks well designed, comes with great traction magnets, comes with nice looking rims and tires but that`s about it,I bought two and was very disappointed at their performance, the cars were extremely slow and noisy, words cannot describe how poorly these cars performed and I have no idea what the design team at Auto World was trying to accomplish, the gears were out of round and did not mesh properly, the armature and motor magnets were too weak to over come the drag created by the high down force traction magnets, the commutator brushes were made out of very low grade material and the pick-up shoes were poorly designed,I managed to wake the car up slightly by replacing the rear axle and gears from an AFX Turbo and replaced the armature with a 6.5 ohm Tyco which surprisingly fit right in,I replaced the hard rubber rear tires with some medium silicones and tweaked and tweaked the shoes,I also replaced the commutator brushes with a set of Tycos, the car did wake up slightly but still performed very poorly most likely due to the weak motor magnets, this car is so terrible that even a novice racer and children would not enjoy it,so I`m going to rob the traction mags and epoxy them in something else seeing as that`s the best feature on the cars and as for the rest of the car they will just be thrown in the box,my suggestion to buyers is "DO NOT BUY THIS CAR",,,My suggestion to Auto World is in order to restore your good name is redesign the car and send them out to anyone who has ever purchased your Super lll because as it stands now the car is a "Super Worthless lll" and you should be ashamed of yourselves for putting such a worthless product on the market and associating the word "Super" with it,,,all in all the way the car looks and the way the car performs are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum and is an absolute deception of what the car claims to be,again this is the worst car I have ever come across in all my years,Calvin CookRead full review

First time I have purchased this brand of chassis and most likely won't purchase another. It works out of the box but is very noisy for an electric motor and is not extremely fast. I have old, used AFX magnatraction chassis that will easily outrun this auto world chassis. It feels as if there is some bind in the gearing - I "may" be able to disassemble and correct it - but shouldn't have to do this with brand new pieces - then again, might not be able to correct it - time will tell.

The product shipped and arrived quickly. That's the good news! The product itself is not so good. The motor and gears do not mesh correctly and hang up. I opened the package and tested by just rolling the back wheel but it did not want to turn. It was hung up. I mean I had to put more pressure than one would think to turn the wheels. Looks good but looks are deceiving.

It's a very nice and smooth chassis from AW. This is the updated version from '22 or '23 with the smooth mesh 7/25 pinion/crown gears. Other manufacturer chassis are faster, but this is definitely AW's fastest. I haven't tuned it, except for oil, but there are a lot of tuning options built in. I'm not racing in organized events any more, just on my own tracks, so the Super III works great for me. I've also experimented with what bodies fit. Some XT/MT bodies will fit, but there needs to be room in the front for the extended Super II chassis, and the Super III has the rear wheels set back further than an MT/XT, so using a body without a defined rear wheel well works best (like Porsche 917, Ferrari 512, and F-1 bodies). Using the Super III Indy car body leaves you room to be creative and create a new Indy version of the 6-wheel Elf F-1 car.Read full review
