Alone in the Dark makes its first appearance on a handheld system with this release for the Game Boy Color, which revisits the storyline that made the computer series popular. Edward Carnby, private detective, and Aline Cedrac, a renowned archeologist, make their way to the mysterious Shadow Island on a mission to avenge the death of Carnby's former partner and to recover a stolen idol. Its thief, also the man responsible for Fiske's death, is none other than eccentric millionaire industrialist Alan Morton. Morton, like Aline, has studied the statuette of the Abakanis Indian tribe, and believes that it contains an evil and destructive power. Aline's warnings do not stop Carnby as he ventures alone onto the darkness of the island, unaware of the unspeakable events that await him.
Controlling Carnby in a detailed third person environment, a player must utilize various tools and weapons that are acquired on the island. He will be able to communicate occasionally via walkie-talkie with Aline, who remains aboard their seaplane, and must rely on his guns whenever there is a close encounter with the creatures that inhabit the bizarre locations of the island. He must be careful though, as Carnby has limited energy and ammunition, and if he runs out of either, his mission will fail. Potions will help restore life and extra bullets, new guns, and other accessories can be found along the way. In case Carnby is killed, users can back up three separate files and restart at the point in which the mission was last saved.

Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare (Game Boy Color)
Nice game, nice controls and decent graphics for the Game Boy Color.
I would recommend buying this game for any Alone in the Dark/Silent Hill/Resident Evil fan.
I bought a Game Boy Color just to play this game.
It is Amazing how they presented this Game on the Gameboy. Was very Well Done considering the limits to the System or then Again it Proves just how Excellent the Gameboy really can be. Very Unique Game. Has a Creepy Dark Feel to it with Creatures Lurking around the Corner. Worth a Look if you Like Adventure in Scary Places.
It's a neat little demake of the original Alone in the Dark 4. Has some cool graphics and music. I'm a rather big fan of the franchise so I had to buy this game. Easy to play, fun little game. Buy it! :)
I like this game for its atmosphere and that it is similar to the Nancy Drew style mysteries. It is just challenging enough for a mature, older game player. However, if you do not like searching around rooms, I would not recommend this game.
