this is wonderful, based on a true story. It's pointed toward early teens but all will enjoy this family film. A young girl stranded on an island has to learn to fend for herself. She makes friends with a wild dog has many adventures over the years that she is stranded there. She encounters hostile fur traders and is eventually rescued by spanish missionaries. I fell in love with the book when I was is grade school. I only wish they would re-release this on dvd
This is a great movie version of a Newbury award winning book by the same title. I remember seeing this movie when I was young and it made a great impression on me because it portrayed a young girl as self-sufficient, strong and intelligent. My daughter was recently required to to a school project on the book, and I was thrilled to find the VHS available on Ebay to add to her project. Good movie for young and old alike.
I saw this movie when I was a child in school. I wanted to share it with my children after they read the book to show them what movies were like in my day. Not so much on the special effects side of things. Just a great movie.
Although their are a few differences between the book and the movie the movie still stays with how the book was written. Although this movie is old it still is very good. Good Buy!
When I was a kid I remember getting Island of the Blue Dolphins from the library to watch and loving it! I was happy to find you were selling it. I was able to share it with my kids.
