I had read an earlier version of this book. This one is even better. Using his formula I had lost 15 pounds (got rid of my small but excessive belly) easily and have kept it off for years. This is a eating plan for one's life and it works and makes perfect sense. I have read many books on healthy eating, this one brings it all together and documents it in scientific terms. This is the best book for health and appropriate book I have ever read. It's a must read book if you're interested in health and well being.

The book was recommended by a close friend, who had a family member with cancer... A regimen similar to the one in this book helped him tremendously... There is a lot of good information here, but recommending people eat only veggies and fruits and most of them raw would not provide enough working fuel for very active people... We require meats as well... The book is a little dry, but all in all, not a bad read.

Low on animal protein, high on vegetables, raw and cooked, Dr Fuhrman calls this the beans and greens diet and he's right. If you love a good salad and cooked vegetable stews and soups and are willing to change old food habits for a few weeks to see your health improve dramatically then rush for a copy of this book. Yes, it's close to being a vegan diet. That said, I don't mind setting aside my carnivore preferences now that I have seen blood pressure and fasting glucose levels steadily falling for the past month. This book is full of the facts that point the way to the vegetable bases of the diet. Hats off to Dr. Fuhrman for a diet that lowers BP, sugar, weight, and increases the odds of extra years.
