It sounds so much better than factory! Once I put in the infinity reference speakers is going to sound so crispy clean. Right now with the factory speakers it sounds muffled. Can’t go wrong with head unit. Android and Apple CarPlay look good and work good. Works wirelessly and wired. Your choice. You’re not making a mistake with Alpine.
The Alpine iLX-W650 was a breeze to install, and the sound is nothing short of amazing! I paired this unit with Alpine's KTA-450 400-watt amp. Both the amp and the head unit combined have a smaller footprint than the JVC unit I replaced. For the first time since I bought my vehicle, I feel like my head unit/amp sounds superior to the stock factory radio. I love using Android Auto for navigation.
The main "gotcha" that I discovered is the way Alpine protects its setup features. To go into the setup, link a new phone with bluetooth, or access just about any of the other settings-based features, I have to 1) place my vehicle into park, 2) set my emergency parking brake, 3) release my emergency parking brake, and 4) set my emergency parking brake again. I love this product. I bought due to it's small size to help me fit into my Ford Transit van. Installation was simple.
Sound's wonderful, connected to 2 amps for speakers and subwoofer.
Excellent controls. I have adjusted the EQ, TCR and Crossovers to my taste, combines with my combination of Focal and Alpine speakers the results are superb. All my friends comment on the sound quality, they tell me that it sounds too good for a van, maybe they are right.
This item was supper excellent. Met its purpose. The quality is great. However, I had some trouble, getting the extra fixtures to work. My android smart phone could not detect the fixtures like maps, the Bluetooth, and USB apps. But still a great stereo system. I would purchase againg if not to complicated to set up.
