I have seven rescued cats here at home, ranging in age from 6 to 12 years old. Trying to get some of the older ones to play and get some exercise is a challenge! When I opened this up and placed it on the floor, it had everyone's attention right away. The catnip is a good way to entice them to use the scratcher in the middle...then they notice that the ball moves. All of my cats took turns, playing and batting the ball about. I will note that the toy is much easier for them to use on a non-skid surface, like short carpet, otherwise it gets smacked all around the room! It is holding up very well considering the abuse it gets on a daily basis and it's so popular here, that I have had to order a second one! Based on the positive reviews, I expected my cat to like this. Unfortunately, he likes more interactive toys and has ignored this toy. I sprinkled the catnip on the corrugated cardboard, so he sometimes sits on it; otherwise no interest. Too bad. I think it's a sturdy toy, and would hold up well to active cats, though.
