I purchased this Plugable adapter so I could connect a small Windows 10 laptop to my home theater system. The laptop has no video output port of any kind, including HDMI, but connecting the Plugable to a USB port on the laptop and an HDMI port on my audio/video receiver does the job for both audio and video. I also have a couple of Plugable docks to convert my Windows 10 tablets into useful devices and a few Plugable ethernet adaptors for laptops with no (RJ45) ethernet port. Their products are reasonably priced, though often not the cheapest, and they are easy to set up and very reliable and durable.
I downloaded and installed the driver for the Plugable USB 3.0 to HDMI Video Graphics Adapter, plugged it into a usb port and my old computer connected to my 2560 x 1440 monitor. Easy way to add a third monitor of higher resolution than my computer was capable of.
I have an HP DV7 laptop running Win 7 64 bit.
Installed the DisplayLink software that came with the Plugable USB to HDMI graphics adapter.
Connected VGA port of the HP to the VGA port on one Asus VH238H.
Connected Plugable usb to USB 3.0 port on the HP and to the HDMI input on a second Asus VH238H.
Set my displays in the Win7 control panel to display all three monitors (no clones)
displaying all three monitors!
IT WORKS!
I am extremely pleased!
If you need More Monitors and are out of Video outputs, these are what you need.
works as it should, no worries if it will fail or not.. bought my 1st one last summer, ended up buying a 2nd one last month .. I"m needing 5 monitors for work..
