Good budget GPU card for the AI hobbyist with their own old enterprise server
While this GPU is from an older generation of server/data centre cards and comparable in computer power to consumer cards like RTX 3060 (double the price and half the VRAM). it does all right in the AI tasks I have for it because of the 24GB of VRAM. It is much better than the AMD FirePro S5170x2 (16GB VRAM) which was power hungry. It is quiet because it doesn't have it's own fan which is typical of server/data centre cards. The enterprise server it is in is very noisy but I have the server in a basement and access it upstairs on my consumer PC. The server heats the space nicely. The card does best with Linux and NVIDIA drivers. Don't buy server/data centre GPU cards if you want to put them in consumer PCs. They don't have any display outputs and depend on external fans and will overheat. The server (dual Xeons 48T and 384GB RAM) and this card cost me about $US650.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
