I know it's brand new, but it heats up fast. Super precise on measuring and flow rate. Great. Little product makes loading multi cavity molds really fast and easy nice small size.

The first time I used this Lee Pro furnace I found out it had a slight electrical short. When I would touch the metal parts of the furnace I would get a small shock. I contacted the seller and they suggested i contact Lee for a replacement but it seems unless you buy it from Lee directly, which I didn't, they are not much help. I was able to make a temporary fix by just adding some insulation around the top plate and one of th he wires. I used that "as seen on tv" tape and it worked great and held up to the heat just fine. So all in all this was still a decent buy and I only gave it a lower rating because I had to fix it and got very little help from the seller and absolutely no help from LEE manufacturing. The furnace is a good odesign and I'm going to purchase another one in a few days but from LEE manufacturing this time. Maybe it won't have an electrical short.Read full review

This Lee unit worked perfect right out of the box. I cast 7 different black powder rounds from a .433 to .69 including the .58 Minie. What's nice is the dispenser is just the nicest feature after having "ladled" the lead for years. The only thing that is a slight draw back is because of the dispenser rod goes through the pot it is a bit confined for skimming the dross/slag off the top. But hey, the efficiency is so much better and the casting is quicker. Heat up time for 3 pounds of lead was about 12-15 minutes. But hey, we black-powder guys aren't usually in a hurry.

I like the temp control and how high the pot sits over the base.If you are using sinkers, wheel weights, old bullets, and other small scrap this will work well for you. However I melt my lead and flux in a big cast iron pot over a turkey fryer that way only clean lead makes it into my melting pot the problem I have with my Lee 90009 is that my ingots have to be made small enough to clear the rod that despenses the lead. The rod starts at rear top and ends at front bottom the angle makes it a little tight. I use a mini bread pan and a muffin pan to cast into, I use the round for pure lead and the rectangle for different alloy mixes. On a friends melter we could fill the pans to the top, with the Lee it is a tight fit at 1/2 and better to keep them to 1/4 to 1/3 of the way full. I have to feed it often. This is a good little lead melting pot, for some it will be perfect, however had I know of the size limits I would have purchased a different pot. The problem is more my research than the product, please make sure this will fill the role of job you are trying to accomplish. Good luck and happy casting!Read full review

As with all bottom drain melting pots you need to keep the bottom inch or so (1 pound on this pot) full when you are done with your session. This keeps the drain from getting plugged with schmuck. If starting new use good clean lead for the 1st pound for same reason. As you are draining occasionally let the weighted handle to to bounce and keep crud out of the drain. Yes it will still drip a little but let it drip as it won't stick to the base anyway. As you melt your lead if it is really dirty and a lot of floating crud remove the floating and scrape the sides to loosen anything that stuck to the sides. IF you still end up plugged melt some lead and while still hot dump the lead out while holding the valve open and set it down that way to let it cool. Very small drill bit (I believe 1/16the) and twist it in by hand to remove crud. Take the rod out and make sure the bottom is not messed up with crud and clean it off. This pot should give you years of good service and is better than most production pots I have seen and used.Read full review

Bought my first small lead melter in 1973, thought it was broke and ordered this one. Turns out the old one had a broke plug after replacement it atill works. However, it is on the shelf, this new one is fantastic and so easy to use. Heats fast, temp control is a great feature. Did 200 .56 caliber round balls yesterday in less time than it used to take making 50. Outstanding product and service. Highly recommend!!!!
