Surprises from this unit.
The Sony HT-S200F sound bar is surprisingly pleasant. Sure it isn't the total sound capture that a system with a separate subwoofer gives but it is better than the speakers built into the TV. One thing that I did find though is to place spacers under the sound bar to let the built in sub "breath".

Sony needs to rethink S200F Sound Bar
I rate this product about 3 stars out of 5 as there is deceptive advertising about surround sound. Specifications are correct, the bar is 2.5 inches high by about 2 feet in length and about 3.5 inches deep. Connections are limited to an optical cable which is included with the product. There is an HDMI outport only, no import. A UBS connection is included for thumb drive music only. There is a repeater system installed with the unit that is attached to the front grill and IR port that is on the reverse side, however, it is near the bottom of the sound bar and will not see your TV if it stands high like mine. I had to build a small platform so that the repeater could talk to the TV. There are five speakers with the bar; two mid-range on the left and one right facing forward, a 3-inch subwoofer facing under the wooden platform I built and two 1-inch tweeters one on each end of the sound bar. There are multiple sound levels on the remote control provided. Sound is good but it cannot compare with Yamaha's sound bar which is awesome. Read full review

waste of time and money
if you don't need a big surround sound system and your just wanting to upgrade your tv speakers this is NOT a good product.it does not make enough difference to warrant the purchase or the hook up. your t.v speakers will not sound much worse than this item and your tv speakers may even sound better. the speaker they call a "sub woofer" is not even close to being any kind of woofer at all. no bass. get something better or keep the tv speakers.

Sony Disappointment!
not impressed by the sound quality. the volume has to be turned all the way up to 50 in order to match the tv speakers at only 15. most of my electronics are Sony products, and this sound bar falls short on quality. Very Disappointed! You can buy much better sound bars for the same money.

Pretty good speaker.
It is not quite up to the manufacturers description of how it manipulates the sound, but for a one box system it definitely adds to the quality of the television sound.
