The book that the New York Times called "a treasure trove of pop lore" just got better! Before MTV and VH1 . . . before books with "Stories Behind the Songs" of popular recording artists, there were Fred Bronson s stories behind the top chart hits. Now in its 5th edition, The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits once again provides the inside scoop behind every song since 1955 known to reach the pinnacle of the legendary and most respected record chart in the world--Billboard s Hot 100. Entries include vivid anecdotes from the hit-making artists, songwriters, and producers; a brief history of the song; the chart entry date and position; the number of weeks on the chart; the date the song reached number one; and much more. Fascinating and engrossing, this reference is the ultimate music source for every rock fan!
I absolutely love the book. I read some of it everyday and use it quite often for reference and general trivia. I have an older version of the very same book which only goes up to 1983, so there is a great deal of facts to catch up on in the 20 years that have come and gone. The new book also corrects and/or adds information on songs and artists since the books original printing.
This is an awesome book. It tells the story behind every number one song. It's fun to look at and shuffle through. My friend showed me his copy, and I liked it so much I had to get my own!! You'll love it if you like trivia.
IT'S A VERY ACURATE BOOK ABOUT WHO WAS #1 IN MUSIC SINCE 1955, I LIKE TO HAVE THIS KIND OF INFORMATION, SO I CAN LOOK FOR OLDER MUSIC AND ENJOY WHAT WAS IN THE RADIO IN OTHER TIMES
