I have upgraded from a 1210 MK3 to the 1200 MK7. The main difference I noticed right out of the box is a lower floor noise. It seems that the new motor is quiet while being more powerful than my previous model. The MK7 is gorgeous to look at being all black, including the tone arm, and I after switching the lighting to blue (easy adjustment) it's even better looking. A few notes I'd like to make - I'm a little divided on not having hinges at all. I like the ease of lifting the dust cover and placing an album vs. having to find room to place the dust cover. Also, the feel of the material is a little cheaper vs. the older models. The Start/Stop button feels a little flimsy and not as smooth. But, having the option to play 78's and play records backwards? Super cool! overall - It's a bit expensive but it's gorgeous and should last a long time. I will be using it at home, not DJ'ing.Read full review

43 years ago when I was stationed in Germany I got my first techniques SL 1300 which lasted me about 28 years, after that I got the SL 1210 MK5 which is still working great from eight years ago… I purchased this MK7 because I just had to have a new turntable but when it came time to swap mine out, I couldn’t bear dealing with all the zip ties… So, I ended up giving it to my 30 year old son lol. He’s been trying to follow my footsteps with a lesser than good quality turntable and it was killing me… I wanted him to have what all of us have, superior quality with analog sound from his vinyl collection! Sorry about the long Windee self-loathing but if I were you I would purchase only techniques turntables and I would recommend this one too (or 3;)

A very well made turntable, can take the abuse of dj,s but if your not dj ing, other more reasonably priced turntables are out there. Audio technica lp 140 is an example.

Right now is one of the best value for money turntables in the market. As background I set up and service turntables as a hobby and have set up several 6-figure turntables for customers.
