Multi operational scanner Aircraft-Airport Tower, Fire-Police,Weather Etc.
I bought this radio to listen in on ATC ( aviation communications) as I’m going for my pilots certification, that being said I was only interested In basic operational radio, this radio is a bit confusing and I’ve still not been able to figure these pre-installed channels so I’ve just installed my local airport frequencies. Radio operation are multi and a value as to have multi radio features in one radio as it gets Fire/police, weather, aircraft, etc, I did call whistler and they’re support is great! Make sure you have the code when you purchase as it won’t work without code, I had to call support, very easy. Comes with a battery tray for rechargeable batteries. (Reg-batteries last me 3 day 24-7 left on by accident) The face place can scratch and I’m going to put small piece gorilla glass to protect. Hope this helps, I would of gave 5 stars if it was little easier to figure out but truthfully that’s my fault.Read full review
I would enjoy it more if I could receive something.I purchased the scanner for listening to railroads.Nothing.I 'm 2 city blocks from the CSX new Rock Subdivision.I even purchased a Diamond RH 77 antenna nothing.I've had other brand scanners.and know how to program a scanner.Maybe I'm doing something wrong.I don't think so.Sincerely Alan Sklenar
Nice unit.. WS 1010 analog scanner may need DiSa code?
my 1010 ariived as new. but.. the security DISa unlock code was not included... unit would not engage or scan
finally got to the whistler help desk : support@whistler (dot com)
with the 10 digit code from the 1010 sticker on bottom .. boom they sent a unlock code in a few hours...
now fast scan.. good reception with rubber antenna... great with 20 ft pole mount.. fire . PD . sheriff all analog around here, easy to use preprogramed freqs.. or enter your own, may still try a pc interface cable someday, add in the included rechargeable and zink battery cradles, good bang for the buck $60. with no charger or manual( get the pdf) saving up for the trx1 version.

This scanner does not receive weak signals well, Even with a quality mobile antenna. I live in a rural area 20 miles from the transmitters. Does not work well under these conditions.
This is an older scanner so it does not have a lot of common frequencies but I wanted something inexpensive for fire, medical, air, and 2 meter. These are all I car about since most police stuff in my area is encrypted.
So, while it does not have a lot of bands, it has all of the ones I cared about
