I bought two of these (one as a Christmas gift) and (the one that isn't the gift) works great! It's true to spec and all the ports work perfectly. There is a bit of an issue with it going to sleep while my display is off and not waking up if I turn the display on first but that's typically with older devices. It may be extremely dated, but I've found it works better than my 2019 Dell laptop and my Steam Deck (when dual booting windows). It's very power efficient and quiet compared to my other devices while supporting all of my peripherals and still able to use an SD card! One thing to note; when I looked at the specs for the device, it claims that it is a 2011 *Server* Mac Mini, which is even better than the listing, given the extra features and longer lifespan. I did upgrade my model to 16GB of DDR3 RAM from a salvaged 2014 mini PC and since doing that, I can open nearly every app preinstalled in the taskbar without stutter. Great product, highly recommend! I did boot up the gifted Mac to test the ports and if it boots and all works there, as well! One final thing to note, there was not a single scratch on either system and with how tight the bottom screw-on rubber base is, it looks and feels brand new! I'm a sucker for old tech and this is a great addition to my ancient arsenal and is completely compatible with my newer tech and is still capable enough to run Mac OS 10.13, High Sierra.Read full review

Nice lil unit. Compact and fully functioned BUT poor graphics speed. Just an Intel chip. Can't use it on Second Life virtual reality site. Can't keep up with the avatar movements. Surprising that Apple graphics are that clunkey. Love the SSD, solid state drive is faaaassst. Loads the O/S in 15 seconds.

Ok.. I wasn’t expecting much from a 2011 Mac Mini, but this thing can still get some semi heavy work done. The one thing to note is the newer OS (10.14) isn’t compatible with the hardware from 2011, so that is something to be very mindful of before you buy the mini. I use the mini as a media center, light gaming, and networking. So if you’re looking for an inexpensive Mac for simple low power use, grab this one because it’s worth the money. Lastly, make sure the mini has a minimum of 8fb of RAM. Anything lower than that will hinder the experience, er, the computer will not function quickly.

This Mac is amazing for a dev-box! It's small, expandable, and able to do alot for its size! My only issues with it would be that iCloud seems to take a TON of resources, but that's not the computers fault at all. If you are wanting to host a mini web server fro your home or host a NAS on one of these guys, you can more than likely manage to get pretty decent results!

I had been looking for just the right Mac Mini to upgrade and found it. Since it already had a 128 GB SSD installed, it was a no-brainer. I simply ordered 16 GB of new RAM and installed it, and wow, what a difference it has made. It now boots up in 36 seconds and is ready to go. Very please with this purchase!!

4GB Ram is not enough to run this machine - you need 8gig unless you want to wait a month for every Simple operation. Swapping in an SSD with the added RAM - it halls ass. The downside of the 2011... it can't run Mojave. High Sierra is last OS it runs. I thought is was a 2012 when I bought it. I had put 2012 in the search and did not pay attention. Other than that, the older upgradeable Mac Mini machines are gold. That is - up to 2012.

Budget minded people who are looking for a great value need look no further. I have owned a mac mini for ten years and never had an issue with its performance. Something I can not say for the many pcs I have also owned for business. I upgraded the memory to 8gb to help with video playback and keep the unit running cooler.

Added two 1600 MHz 8gb sticks of RAM only $90. Added SSD drive $50. Runs great. Fast. Video memory adjusted to 512k. Should last for some time as Apple updates OS.

This my second Mac Mini. I purchased this one for my elderly parents who have never used a Mac before. The learning curve was a bit steep for them, but the stability and ease of use of the Mac more than compensate for this. The cool thing is that their existing monitor, keyboard, mouse and printer all work perfectly with the Mac Mini. For me it is actually much easier to help them with technical problems since I have a Mac Mini at home and i can walk them through any tech issues they have. And of course Lion OSX is perhaps the most stable, user friendly OS out there. I tried to set up Remote Management, but they are behind a cable modem, and I was not able to connect to their IP. I could probably get it to work if I tried hard and long enough, but at this point most everything is working fine so I really don't need the Remote Management feature.Read full review
The Mac Mini line of Macs are an excellent performing computer for attaching to entertainment systems. Compact good Intel Core i5 processor & just enough of a graphics card to handle any movie streaming you would need to do. HDMI output so you can attach to TV or AV Receiver. Plenty of room to put in 2 notebook size drives to store your media. Supports 8GB of RAM and the latest OS. All metal to keep it cool. Only ding is the lack of a DVD/BD Drive slot. however you can connect an external one.
