The device is a great addition for those with large hands; there are a few things to be aware of. The device requires specific batteries to charge via USB-C | PD-E1. Future buyers, you must have LP-E6N batteries for this Grip, and Canon told me that the battery has special charging requirements. Pro Tip: While you can purchase them from Canon directly, approx- 80$. I was able to get a compatible battery from B&H for 40$, so it worked out.

Completely transforms the feel of the camera and makes using the camera a much more comfortable and enjoyable to use, as well as extending battery life and allowing for the charging of two batteries at the same time through the supplied USB-C charger. Hard to not reccomend it, the benefits and long term benefit far justify the cost (although the cost is high.)

This camera grip is a worthy addition to the Canon EOS-R system: It installs easily, lovingly handles two batteries (and makes charging them a breeze) and falls solidly into the hand, giving the whole camera a more solid feel. I love the duplication of the controls for use in the vertical shooting mode: that's genius. My only reservation is that the increase in overall camera height makes storing it in the usual carrying bags and backpacks more of an issue. It's just so tall.
