first time i owned one of this, i think is bigger than other ones but it works fine, i am not a pro on this field so i tried other like sb-600 and is smaller and not so heaviest, cause of this i think is not bad but a little bit bigger, works fine, recycle fast when mounted on camera hot shoe, easy to use nothing mystic on parameters, well constructed, hundred percent japanese, i think if you decide to purchase one of this will never be desapointed, i like it, the shoe base is not metallic is a inyected fiber type, it seems to be tough, so in general a good shape and very good flash.

The flash does not work. The flash info lights up but it will not flash. So I contacted NIKON for customer support for repair but due to Corona Virus they are not doing repairs now. So I have a useless $400. paper weight.

Best flash yet from Nikon. Integrates perfectly with modern (D5 and later) bodies. Wireless off-camera control with the WR-R10 also works perfectly, and Infrared CLS is as sensitive as previous flashes. Slightly lighter and smaller than the SB-900/910, same performance. Consistent TTL (more so than non-OEM brands). Excellent white balance. Recycle is comparable to previous flashes with a battery pack, and to non-OEM flashes with built-in lithium battery packs. It's my new event flash.

The minus of this speed light is dependable of the remote receiver which is hard and expensive. $70 plus. Another downside is the price compared to other high end brands. Other that that the unit is excellent: fast recycling, excellent output, snd intuitive and easy to use.

I am using the SB-5000 on a D5, and I have yet to take a picture that was not exposed correctly. there are so many features, but the wireless functionality is what Ive always wanted from a speed light ( without line of sight) It works where ever I put it

Typical Nikon Product. Even though its made in China, it has been flawless so far. I read many reviews that trash it as you have to buy additional products to make it work with your camera and additional flashes. I am having no problem firing the SB5000 along with a SB900 via wireless.

Terrific Flash; significantly smaller than SB 910 with comparable output; cooling system works great to keep continuous flash output thermoregulation possible. Very minor issue but the LCD backlight color mirrors that of the top LCD display on the camera (mine is D500 but I think all have a similar color)... Just makes the flash plus the SLR look more tightly integrated. Remote commander functions work as advertised, both optically and via radio frequency. Have used on multiple occasions with an SB-700 as a slave. Very convenient to have the vast majority of controls on the DSLR (this may be true because I have the newer D500. Have not tested with my D90 yet.

I have another SB-5000 and wanted a second unit to help balance the flash in rooms, and have more flexibility in how I place the lights.
