I used Shimano for 25 years, then comes along SRAM and have proven a serious competitor to the Shimano empire. Actually SRAM purchased a bunch of companies and now compete against Shimano in the Bike market place very effectively. This XD freehub body is part of SRAM's cassette setup, roughly equivalent to Shimano's freehub body only massively lighter. This small unit replaces Shimano's freehub body with great weight savings and as good or better performance. I trained and raced on one of these for 2 seasons without a slightest hint of problems so I'd say it's a proven system. In fact, in those two seasons, I never dropped a chain during training or any races. Try one.
