Needed a new 3 in one printer, fax, scanner to replace my Brother MCF-450JD that developed a mechanical problem with the scanner. Since I had a good experience with the MCF-450JD I ordered the Brother MCF-1010JD from E-Bay. Setup was easier than the MCF-450JD, the print quality if fine and the scanner works great. I am keeping both printers until the ink I bought recently for the MFC-450JD is used up (very expensive to just throw away), at which point I will junk the 450 and do everything on the 1010

I was a little hesitant when I realized the scan function couldn’t handle too many sheets at once, but it allows you to add more pages before finalizing and saving. This is a great size printer and so far, I have not been disappointed.

Well things in tech are different today than when I had to use printer, fax, scanner and copiers, today everything is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, I bought 2 different HP desk jets, well not me, I have agoraphobia, and social anxiety disorder with panic attacks I don't go outside much, so I had my daughters mom get me other 2 printers, HPs I spent quite awhile attempting to install them It came down to them requiring a form of payment so what they do is monitor your ink then automatically bill you and mail the ink. So here we are after doing the general set up all good, going on the Brother website and downloading the drivers all good, then the part where I had to have my computer list the device I was installing it didn't show up, So I needed to scan some very important paperwork regarding my housing so with all the drivers from Brother installed correctly and showing device is working properly when I went to scan a document I kept getting a warning "you need to download a WIA Driver for this to work" well it turns out Microsoft has their affairs in the middle of this set up, a WIA driver is Windows Imaging acquisition software, after that there was one other thing that was holding up the scanner from working your network setting could not set on metered, I was then able to use the scanner. I am pleased with the printer, I am an Ubuntu user, so I did have to go to the brother webpage and download and install some drivers, but there page has good information on how to do this and I had no problem getting both the printer and scanner working as they should.
