I bought this processor to replace a Phenom II x4 1045T, which is a great processor that lacks sse4.2 instruction set. The FX-6300 is a 6 core, 6 thread processor that is from the Vishera architecture (a refresh from the Bulldozer lineup) that lowered TDP and increased performance. It's clock speed is 3.5 GHz that turbos to 3.8 GHz but the real strength in this processor is the overclock potential. Did you know that a FX-8350 held the world record for the highest clocked processor @8.79433 Ghz? I currently have mine overclocked (all core) to 4.6 GHz using the stock cooler and it maintains a 62 degree temperature. These processors are great for gaming, even to this day.

I use it in a Windows 7 machine with SSD drive. Computer and apps load just as fast as another system I have with an 6 Gen I5 processor. I don't do gaming or video editing, so don't know how it would perform in those situations, but for general computing. It seems the main thing you give up using an older CPU model is the amount of power it uses but the the savings in using an older model is more then the cost in extra electricity costs. I didn't notice and difference between this CPU and the Phenom II x4 processor running at 3.6 GHz.

Arrived super fast. Worked right out of the box. This was replacing the same exact CPU. Slipped right it. booted right up, and automatically went right back to the overclock that the old one was on. This one seems to run faster and cooler, which is to be expected as each CPU is different. A++ in my book. Will last me until I do my Ryzen or Skylake build. Haven't decided yet.

I am using the six core FX 6300 with a motherboard that takes advantage of its turbo boost feature, so there is more than enough cores and speed for normal tasks or light gaming. Web surfing, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Publisher all run better than on my previous four core rig. Plus all those Win 10 updates and upgrades seem to install faster.

I've had a Six Core CPU AMD Processor before , But this Baby is Awesome ... Using this one on my Linux Computer TA970 motherboard with DDR3 1866Mhz XMP Ram.. Never seen Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS 64bit run so fast and smooth .. I give this CPU a 10 Stars , Because it runs at 28 Celsius with a stock Fan and Heat sink..

I love it so far, quite the upgrade from my FX 4300. I have an MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) motherboard and never updated my BIOS before installing this chip. If you have this motherboard and want this chip, upgrade your BIOS first, as it will save you a lot of frustration and time. Windows saw it as a corrupted device. I thought that I had made a mistake buying it used, but that thought was dead wrong. After some research and flashing my BIOS, followed by manually unlocking all cores, this thing performs way beyond expectations! I haven't overclocked it yet, but excited to do so as my FX 4300 overclocked to 4.4GHz and this chip blows it away! Cinebench15 gives me a lower score on this beast, but my FPS in game has increased by an average of 15FPS, some games more, some are the same as before, but most of them are significantly smoother and higher FPS with higher lows too! AMD has always been my favorite brand for processors, but this one really surprised me at this low of a price.Read full review

It was not brand new, so I was slightly reluctant. However, after a few days of gaming and working on it I can say that it is performing better than I had hoped. It was easy to install (thanks AMD), It has been reliable so far, and it was exactly as described. I recommend this easily as it's cheap yet powerful.

What can I say? It performs as expected. While technically slower than the FX-4300 (125 watt) series it replaced, I have noticed no reduction in speed, while the 95 watt power pull keeps my fans running far less.

Took a little long to ship than expected but got her on time. The CPU came with a bent pin that I had to fix with a knife. I was very slightly bent and didn’t go into cpu socket. It was easily fixed and worked just fine. Could of been due to the item being packaged with no padding.
